Make a difference in your community and help make a positive change for adults learning English.
Literacy for All of Monterey Park (LAMP) at the Monterey Park Bruggemeyer Library provides free ESL classes and 1-1 tutoring for adult English language learners. These classes and tutoring groups help adults navigate their community, communicate with others and feel more confident in their daily lives.
All volunteers receive materials and training, continued support from the adult literacy coordinator, attend quarterly Tutor Meetups, and meet 1-2 times per week with their class or learner. A teaching credential is not required.
Students interested in gaining teaching experience and classroom management are also encouraged to apply. The curriculum is flexible, and LAMP provides the materials.
This program is funded by the California Library Literacy Services Grant (CLLS) and the Workforce and Innovation Opportunity Act (WIOA).
